Fun Summer Snacks to Make with your Child

Cooking is a great way to connect with your child, work on following directions, describing, etc. This is a great way to work on sequencing and story retell. Additional recipes in link below.

Heart Pizzas 

WHAT YOU NEED 

• REFRIGERATED BISCUITS 

• PIZZA OR ITALIAN TOMATO SAUCE 

• SHREDDED CHEDDAR OR MOZZARELLA CHEESE 

• FAVORITE PIZZA TOPPINGS (OPTIONAL) 

• COOKIE SHEET 

DIRECTIONS 

1. Ask an adult for permission to work in the kitchen. 

2. Roll out each biscuit. 

3. Form each biscuit into a heart shape. 

4. Put a small amount of pizza sauce on each biscuit and top with cheese. Add other favorite pizza toppings if you wish. 

5. Put biscuits on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 450 degrees Fahrenheit (230 degrees Celsius) for 8-10 minutes. 

6. Share with your family and friends.

Dirt cups 

WHAT YOU NEED 

• 1 PACKAGE OREOS®/BLONDE OREOS® 

• 1 PACKAGE CHOCOLATE/VANILLA PUDDING MIX

• 1 CONTAINER (8 OZ. OR 240 ML) WHIPPED TOPPING 

• GUMMY WORMS 

• PLASTIC CUPS 

DIRECTIONS 

1. Put the OreosⓇ in a large plastic bag and smash them to crumbs.

2. Layer the OreoⓇ crumbs in the bottom of the cup. Set aside.

3. Mix pudding mix and whipped topping in a separate container.

4. Layer pudding mix on top of the crumbs, and go back and forth with the cookie crumbs and pudding mix. 

5. Top with a gummy worm or two and “dig” in!

Apple cookies and donuts 

WHAT YOU NEED 

• 1 APPLE 

• 2 TABLESPOONS (15 ML) NUT BUTTER 

• 2 TABLESPOONS (15 ML) CHOCOLATE CHIPS 

• 2 TABLESPOONS (15 ML) CREAM CHEESE 

• SPRINKLES 

• FOOD COLORING (OPTIONAL) 

• KNIFE, PASTRY TIP, OR APPLE CORER 

DIRECTIONS 

1. Cut the apple from side to side in thick slices, and cut out the middle with a knife, pastry tip, or apple corer. *Get a grown-up to help with cutting the apple!

2. Spread nut butter on a few slices, and add chocolate chips to make apple cookies. 

3. Mix cream cheese with food coloring if you want, and spread on a few apple slices. Add sprinkles for your apple donuts. 

4. Make sure you share it with a smile!
